Dakota Blue Richards was born in England. She's most famous for her character of Lyra Belaqua on 'The Golden Compass,' Franky Fitzgerald, and the 3rd Generation of British teens' drama Skins. She also has a long performance history on stage in shows such as 'Arcadia' as well as A Streetcar Named Desire. Richards is a Londoner by birth, grew up on the Sussex coast. She took a couple of lessons in drama at her school but mostly received training in acting at weekends. Also, she skipped school to attend auditions. "The Golden Compass" was her first appearance onscreen as an actress. Richards was well-respected for her acting skills, it received mixed reception. The following year she had her first screen debut on television in the film "Dustbin baby".
